Chronicles of Sonaë · Chapter 07

The Hills of the Hearth

Medianor · A tale from the world of Sam’Relaxe

Medianor

No mountains here. No ocean. No danger. Just gentle hills, smoking chimneys, and that strange certainty — inexplicable — that everything is fine.

Every house has a guest room always ready. Every table, an extra place setting. There's a fire burning at the center of the village that has been going longer than the walls surrounding it. No one feeds it. No one knows why it doesn't go out.

An old man sits before that flame every evening. He has no spectacular power. He tells stories. But always — always — the exact story you needed without knowing it.

Brasier, The Storyteller

An old man with no spectacular power. His only gift is his presence — when Brasier is there, people feel at home. Every evening, he tells the exact story his listener needed.

La Braise Éternelle

A flame that appeared with the Resonance of Comfort. Its crackling says: all is well, the night will pass, morning will come.

The flame flickered for the first time. The old man stood up.

A work of fiction drawn from the Sonaë bible.
