8hMeditation ambience
Meditation asks for little: a place, a breath, and something that holds the attention without gripping it. A slow ambience fills that last role. Our meditation ambiences take place in the sanctuaries of Sonaë: ancient temples under a tropical storm, mountain lakes at dawn, gardens under the moon, peaks under the aurora.
They suit guided or silent meditation, slow breathing, gentle yoga and relaxation before sleep. None of them makes a medical promise; they are places to sit in.

How to use them
Sit, start the ambience at a medium volume, and for two minutes do nothing but listen: find the water, the wind, the music. Then let the sound become a background and follow your breath. When the mind wanders, come back to one sound, the water for instance, and start again.
Which places to choose
To soothe: a lake, a garden, fine rain. To lift: a mountain, the aurora, high peaks. To ground: a temple, a cave, a fire. Each realm of Sonaë carries a resonance, quiet, life, wonder, and the Guardian can suggest one from your mood.
In practice
- Two minutes of attentive listening, then let it go.
- Ten to twenty minutes, the same ambience each time.
- The Guardian suggests a realm from your mood.

Frequently asked questions
What music should I choose for meditation?
Slow, sparse, without a beat and without lyrics, and quieter than the natural sounds around it. If you notice the melody, it is too present. Water alone is often enough.
Music, or nature sounds only?
Both work. Beginners often find music helpful as a thread; with practice, water or wind alone is enough and less distracting. Try both and keep what lets you forget the sound.
How long?
Ten to twenty minutes is plenty. The ambiences run for hours so that you never have to think about the end.
