8h 2minWinter cabin ambience
Winter has its own sound: the snow muffles everything, the wind whistles far away, and the fire seems louder. Our winter ambiences play on that contrast: outside the blizzard, inside the hearth. Every one of them takes place in a shelter of Crysolore or on the heights of Alteria, under the aurora.
They suit January evenings, stormy nights, reading under a blanket and sleep. A snowstorm outside a warm cabin is one of the oldest comforts there is.

Snow and sleep
A distant blizzard is a deep, continuous sound, close to brown noise: one of the most effective for sleep. Paired with a fire, it makes a cocoon. The cabin ambiences were mixed for the night: the storm stays far, the fire stays close, nothing ever spikes.
Snow and reading
To read or work, prefer snow falling without wind, with a fireplace and a soft music: the sound is clearer and less enveloping, and attention stays on the page. The frost houses and the aurora nights are made for that.
In practice
- Night: a distant blizzard and a fireplace.
- Reading: quiet snow and soft music.
- December: see also the Christmas page.

Frequently asked questions
Does a blizzard sound help you sleep?
Yes, when it stays distant. It is a low, steady rumble that masks the house and the street, and the fire beside it tells the brain you are safe. Keep the volume low.
What is the difference with the Christmas page?
Christmas gathers the lit villages, the trees and the holiday houses. Winter gathers the quiet side of the season: cabins, blizzards, frost, auroras, all through January and February.
Are there aurora ambiences?
Yes, over the peaks of Alteria and the villages of Crysolore. They are among the calmest videos of the library, made for the end of the evening.
